Denison ice rescue

Denison Volunteer Fire Department performed a nighttime ice rescue drill at their local Yellowsmoke Park east of town on Jan. 25. It was a comfortable 18 degrees with a light wind. A training hole in the ice just off of the boat landing was made. Exposure suits, PFDs, ropes, carabiners and lots of lighting and volunteer firefighters were needed to have a successful drill. It was a simulation of a person who fell through the ice and was clinging to the edge of the hole awaiting rescue. Photo by Jim Clark, DVFD.
